--- By Dr. Zachary --- Beta Badniks --- Sonic 2 Beta and the early screenshots are very complicated things. But the one subject of the screenshots that always catches my eye is the badniks. In Sonic 2 Beta, there are more than just one unusual badnik. The two levels that actually stand out with their completeness (Emerald Hill and Hidden Palace) only really do so because they have a variety of BADNIKS. The bats in Hidden Palace Zone are seen in Sonic 3's Carnival Night... the other dino-bot appears in no other Sonic game... and the snail thing turns up in Sonic CD. But what about the Dino-bot that mysteriously resembles the Rhinobot? Well, believe it or not, I think I have unlocked the secret of the whole game. As I recall, the game was supposed to be based around time-travel (more than Sonic CD was). Well, suppose that each Zone took place in the exact same location? And that the badniks all changed form according to the time period... Have you noticed that the Dinobot ought to act in a similar way to the snail? Maybe this is because the Dinobot IS the snail... this would certainly make sense. The Sonic 1 badniks were often repeated and nearly each one found in more than one zone! The early Dust Hill screenshot included two buzzers... BUZZERS? Aren't they Green Hill (Sonic 2) badniks? They are... but just like in Sonic 1, they are repeated. And I've just realised what the crocodile badnik in the Dust Hill Zone could be-- an early CRAWLTON! There is no reason why it can't be... we cannot see a body! No offence to Yarharhar who made the S2RR Dust Hill Demo, but I think his idea of the crocodile badnik is WRONG! It has no body... it only has a NECK! And look at the Rusty Ruins Zone's badniks-- one of them should look very FAMILIAR... but this isn't really relevant... 3D is TT.
