Subject: Secrets of Sonic the Hedgehog

Here's my theory.

I think that Sonic 2 was originally supposed to have time travel. I was
reading another theory when it struck me. Look at at. There are several
stages that have other stages (beta or otherwise) that could serve as a
precursor or future to that level.

Emerald Hill = Aquatic Ruin
Chemical Plant = Genocide City
Mystic Caves = Hidden Palace
Wood Zone = Metropolis Zone

Also, I believe that, in the beta Sonic 2, Tails was going to be the
Master Emerald's guardian! Only he would go to the level, which explains
the Tails' 1-Up box! THe Master emerald is positioned over a tube, so
perhaps Eggman comes and steals it so you can go down the tube!
