The
rings are a fair bit higher up in the final compared to these,
there are also six instead of 4, but that may be because Sonic
has collected them.

Besides
the obvious "Ring" change, the background is also
a lot more basic, with little foliage surrounding it. They may
not have gotten all sections of the scrolling in yet.

Much
like the area in Act 1, Sonic gets ontop of the giant rolling
ball object, apd appears to have killed an enemy with it, showing
it's use.

Sonic
has hit the invincible monitor from below, breaking it. In the
final you must first hit down the monitor with one hit, and
then break it open from above.

The
flowers are green, meaning a later build, but the HUD still
says "RING".

This
picture sports a pink flower. not seen in the final game. Also,
there is a set of spikes at the top of this mountiain in the
final. Also there is a different type of debug present, which
appears in the bottom right of the picture, instead of appearing
within the score.

Sonic
punching the air? Supposedly that is what Sonic was able to
do in the prototype versions of Sonic 1. This would happen when
you jumped into the air after you finished an act, say nconfirmed
sources. notice how the counter also says 'Ring' instead of
'Rings'.
