The
video begins with a small 3D intro of Sonic and the SEGA logo, Sonic
taps his toes a few times before it zooms outwards. A forien language
then shouts "Y ahora, lo más esperado, ¡Sonic
2! ¡Estreno mundial de mi última aventura! ¡Sube,
que te llevo!",
meaning "And now, the much anticipated, Sonic 2! World-wide
launch of my latest adventure! Hop in!" [Thanks to Simon Wai
and Greg2K for the translation] |

The
Sonic 2 BETA title, nothing has changed from the BETA flying around
the internet, and it's yet to have the options avaliable. The background
music is slower than usual, most likely because it's an American/Japanese
cart trying to play on an European machine. In the final Sonic 2
EU, the music has been sped up. |
|
Sonic
enters Hidden Palace Zone, with his final walking and running spriteset,
proving that this is a later prototype. Hidden Palace itself has
not changed. |
|
Sonic
speeds down the Hidden Palace pipe. At first view it appears that
the pipe has the automatic pip code inserted, but in closer inspection
Sonic is still off centre from it, so the player just held down
in this case. |
|
The
Tails monitor is still present, but the player does not try to open
it. |
|
The
Emerald Hill Zone seems much like the final. All of the final badniks
are there, but the Snail robot from the BETA has been removed. Tails
is shown here behind Sonic, meaning that the near final Tails code
has been implemented. In the BETA, Tails stops behind Sonic, not
right next to him. |
|
Sonic's
final balancing animations have been added to this version. |
|
2
Player mode in Emerald Hill Zone. Tails now has his own icon, but
his name still says Sonic. The score and rings counter for Tails
have not been added yet, as they follow exactly whatever Sonic gets. |
|
Tails
now has the ability to fly, unlike the BETA version. |
|
Tails
has taken a hit from a Coconuts, but he does not effect Sonic's
ring count like the BETA. |
|
The
first boss is still fairly complete, but now unlike the final, he
leaves his cars' carcus behind. Both Robotnik and the leftover car
automatically face right as soon as they have split. Robotnik also
does not have his 'burnt' animations from when he is beaten. |
|
Sonic
in Chemical Plant zone with his final animations. There seems to
be a missing item box here which gives you 10 rings, but it's missing. |
|
At
the very left is a diagonal piece of Chemical Plant Zone. This piece
only appears in the BETA version, meaning they haven't gotten as
far ahead in the level as they had with Emerald Hill. |
|
In
the final moments is another 3D animation featuring Sonic. some
3D pilons imitating End Zones boss in Sonic 1 appear, with an Orbinaut
searching around. |
|
Out
of the pilon a T-1000 styled Sonic pops up, destroying the Orbinaut
with a laser from his finger. Sonic then becomes solid and coloured. |
|
The
video finished with a final copyright message. |
|
This
is the front cover of the video. It also included footage of The
Terminator, ThunderForce IV, Xenon 2, Splaterhouse 3 and Monaco
GP 2. |
