The
image on the top is the normal title screen on Sonic 2, but
the bottom image is much different. The bottom picture was in
the Sonic 2 instruction manual, and was later found to be the
title screen from the Sonic 2 BETA cartridge. The first known
colour version of the image was on a Tomy Collector card set
for Sonic back in 1993, as shown below. The Instruction manual
version is the only version with the options avaliable down
near the bottom, most likely meaning they changed it nearing
the end of the game making.
