This Green HIll Zone looks very different to the final. Firstly, The ground has a white/brown scheme, unlike the browns seen in the final version, which is more of an Emerald Hill that Green Hill.

Secondly, the flowers are very different. The final uses Hearts and Diamond flowers, but the prototype has big, red and yellow flowers. This is an image from the final game, with a background, unlike the picture above.

This style is still in the game, but only for a few seconds. It's used in the intro where Eggman catches Tails, which is also set in Green Hill. Also notice the Green Hill styled palm in the backdrop, completely different to the final and the early Green Hill levels.
