In
the Game Gear Manual this Power Sneakers powerup is said to be
in the game, but they cannot be found in the game at all!. However,
they can be found in the Master System version of the same game.

The
power sneakers are only found in one place in the entire game
in Sonic 2 for the Master System, in this wall for Aquatic Lake
Zone.

If
we find the same area in the Game Gear version, the Sneaker powerup
is not avaliable, instead a ring box is present.

In
the Crystal Egg Zone act 2, this mysterious box can be found hidden
behind an glass Eggman image. The image is completely obscured
from view, and when you destroy it it created a badnik destruction
sound effect, and you are given a continue.

These
four monitors were found whilst digging through Sonic 2 GG. The
first one is what the monitor from Crystal Egg Zone, seen in the
shot above, was. It was either an early Super Sneaker monitor,
or a a 'Super Sonic' monitor like in Sonic CD Beta, with Super
Sneakers and Invincibility. The Question mark monitor was probably
for a random amount of rings or items, like the 2-player mode
of Sonic 2 on the Megadrive. The grey sneaker was probably a slow
sneaker, like Sonic 3's 2-player mode. Lastly, the arrow monitor
would have been a checkpoint marker like Sonic 1 GG.
