This
is fairly similar to the final game, but the design is a little
different. There is a higher roof at this point in the final,
but goes down to this level further on.

All
of these little pieces of data are missing pieces from the Underground
Zone. The alternate bricks at the top are not in the final game,
and neither are the smaller bits of molten rock.

Underground
Zone at one point has a loop in it, along with some floating platforms.
Neither are found in the final game.

This
is the Arijigoku Mecha boss of the Underground Zone. Usually in
the game just his face is viewable out of a hole in the ground,
but this shows that he had a bit of a body as well. He could have
possibly rose from the ground at some point.

When
some Game Gear games were being tested, they would be shown on
an SMS, despite the difference in screen size. The emulator eSMS
allows this SMS mode, which allows you to see the Arijigoku Mecha's
body. So the body bit would have probably been so it didn't look
so odd in the testing process, or if they decided to change the
camera.

For
comparison, this is the look of the boss battle on the Master
System.
