This was extracted from the Sonic 3 ROM, and isn't used in the final game. This was an alternate waiting animation, where Sonic would nod off to sleep. |

Using the same methods, this was extracted. Sonic is whistling, possibly Sonic would have to call to get Tails to come back to him. |

These are the climbing and gliding animations used for the Sonic 3 2-Player mode. In the final his abilities are never shown, as he moves the same as Sonic. |

This was found in the Sonic 3 ROM, but belongs to Sonic 2. This is Tails' animation when in the 'CONTINUE?' screen of Sonic 2. |

This mysterious animation shows Sonic, Sonic 2 style, on a surfboard. It's now known that this was going to be used at some point instead of Super Sonic at the very beginning of Angel island Zone. |

Additional "Pen-pen" animations were in Ice Cap Zone. They all can be seen in game, however the robot never really gets to a slope which uses them. By going into debug mode and placing a Pen-pen at a larger slope [ie; the snowboarding sequence], the animations appear. |

Though this looks like part of the regular running animation of Eggman, this version has him running with the "panicked" look on his face, which isn't seen in the game. |

This animation shows Eggman turning his back to the screen. In the part where this was extracted, it would use a special method for the sprite to become smaller and fly into the background, like the Marble Garden Zone fight. |

This swirly selection of Red balls was found when the Sonic Surfboard was. These Balls move around in a 3D Sphere, constantly twisting around. It's unknown why they exist, but they can be maneuvered by the second player controller.
A possible theroy for these is that it's simply a test for the special stage, as it uses the same balls. |
