Super 1998 Sonic 6 is a pirate cartridge for the SEGA Megadrive, and is a port of the original Super Mario Brothers game from Super Mario All Stars on the Super Nintendo. Instead of mario being the main character, Sonic has been squished into his sprite size with a limited amount of animation, to do what Mario can. This new title screen is taken from Sonic Jam on the SEGA Saturn, but was converted quite well considering the limited palette. |

The World checking screen is a a big mess. Firstly, the cloud backdrop is from the title screen of the SNES remake, but the Sonic 3D image [Most likely taken from the emulator Genecyst, since it cannot show the Sonic 3D Blast movie quite correctly] is covering the logo. |
As an odd palette choice, Sonic is red when he begins the game, rather than be a shorter version. You will also notice how the resolution of the level has changed compared to the title screen, that is because this is the SNES resolution, which is thinner than the Megadrives. |
As soon as he grabs a mushroom he will turn blue. Grabbing a Fire Flower does not affect Sonics palette, but he can shoot fireballs. |
Sonic grabs the flag at the end of each level, just like Mario. The characters movement is not perfect though, Sonic does move quite stiffly and jitters around when jumping. |
The Underground has not changed palette, and is still filled with Koopa Troopas and Goombas. The Warp pipes at the end of world 1-2 still exist, but the text is missing making it difficult to choose which pipe. |
Obviously not much was changed, Marios still shows his mug in a few areas, such as this special warp pipe found in World 1-2. |
Bowser also still exists in this pirate, no effort was put into turning him into Eggman. |
Unfortunately everything comes to a halt during any level with a Lakitu Cloud, as an error appears where Lakitu throws unlimited spiked shells, causing the emulator to lock up. Some emulators can get around the problem by having it's emulation not completely up to scratch, allowing some things to pass through. |
What
