The HUD Display from the early images of Sonic Advance was quite different from the final. It was originally a bit more stylized, with one side being larger than the other. In the end, they decided upon a more basic ring.

Early shots had a different font type for the HUD. The original text was a little shorter, and was pure black and white. The final game used a similar but taller font, and the type was grey with a bit of shadowing.
