Sonic Adventure 2: The Trial was a free demo given away when you bought Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast. It included one level [City Escape] and included a fair few things not found in the final game.

At the time, the SA2 logo was very different, with a black/white design, those being the good/evil extremes. Later put to a Blue/Black design with a whole different look for the two.

Despite subtitles being in the game [constantly English], the only voicetrack available is the Japanese version.

The most obvious difference between this demo and the final is Sonic's shoes. By this time Sonic was still wearing his original sneakers, but by the final game a deal was stuck with SOAP Shoes, where Sonic would be wearing modified versions of them to show off the 'grinding' style which SOAP Shoes give.

Overall, the level is pretty much the same, the only differences were some signs, as these just basically pointed to Phantasy Star Online commercials.

The truck sequence was very much the same, the only difference is the Big the Cat Cameo wasn't in yet.

When Sonic finishes the level, a grading is given. To get an A in SA2 Trial was a lot more difficult than it was in the final game, most likely to give it a bit more longevity for such a small demo.
