When you begin the Wacky Workbench Zone, you can clearly see that the background has had a different colour scheme to it. In 510, the background is more green coloured, while the final has more of a blue colour. |
For comparison, this is the beginning of the level in the final game. |
In the prototype this block is left alone, but by the final the right side of it has been altered to include a spring, as has the bottom left ledge. Another quick note is the door for entrance, seen flipped up in this image, it will flip up to let Sonic through and will close afterwards, not letting Sonic back through. This was deleted from the final game. |
In version 510 when you bounce up into the air by the platforms below, you are simply shot up with the same animations you were in in use. In the final Sonic will curl up into a spin when shot upwards. Also this piece Sonic is heading towards is incomplete. In the final there is a blue flame, freezing Sonic when he comes into contact. |
For comparison, this is the final version in the same area. It's also a good comparison for the backdrop difference. Also, the platforms Sonic can go onto in the final to reach most places don't exist yet in 510, making it impossible to finish the level without debug on. These platforms can be created using Debug, but none are officially placed. |
This tube warp doesn't work in SCD 510. It will cause Sonic to get stuck here. It also blocks Sonic from moving through the side way. |
Much like the levitating platforms mentioned before, these bouncing platforms have been ousted in 510, but can be accessed through Debug. |
Because the ending runway is quite low on the screen, the ring has been mispositioned much like previous levels. This one is now stuck inside the wall, and is difficult to get to. |
The beginning of Act 2 has some oddly positioned bars which cover half of Sonics head. These were moved or removed in the final. |
In comparison, the same shot from the final game. The pieces were flipped 180 degrees. |
Sonics gigantic ski-board is missing in 510, left with a trail of snow which doesn't affect Sonic at all. |
This moving platform is found in both versions. Jumping on top will make it sink, and it will rise again when you move over to the next, similar platform. |
However in SCD 510 the patterns on it are dull and basically fit with the landscape. In the final the texture has changed to include bright yellow and red lights. |
This would usually carry Sonic up and around in an 8 shape, but in SCD 510 it has yet to be programmed in, and Sonic can enter it and stand on the middle platforms. |
This GOAL signs has been moved from here in SCD 510, to further up in the final. It's also horribly misplaced, being stuck in the middle of a platform. |
This is the beginning of Act 3, the foreground and background objects have been switched around. The first and third column have come to the front, while the middle one has been put in the back |
In this final version, The first and third column have been put in the back, and the middle at the front. Also, the top of the columns have been dulled down to being plain and basic, not filled with rainbow colours. |
This whole area has been shortened in the prototype version for Sonic to be able to jump up it without the moving platforms. There is also a cut out from the right wall here in the final, which has a line of rings in it. |
This section is similar to the final, but the large platform above Sonic doesn't exist in it! Although in SCD 510 it doesn't stop Sonic when he hits it, so it's just a large empty piece of backdrop. |
The boss at the end of the level has yet to be implemented, but the broken platforms have been added, but don't stop any of Sonic's movements, he'll fly right through them. |
This is the same area in the final with Eggman present. There is also a metallic door to the right which isn't in the prototype. |
Another set of flowers which don't appear in the final game, with a horrible palette issue. |
This is a comparison shot of the flowers from the final game. The rest of the capsule also dissapears in the final. |
