Early Casino Night level design seemed to have some objects within the arena. If you look closely you can see something that looks like a bumper, or flipper to the bottom left of the page.

Like the rest of the prototype pictures, these were just basic envisions on what the game could look like. No action takes place in these shots. Here you can see there are no shadows, and this definitely is Casino Night as it still has the emerald emblem in the middle of the arena.

A great shot to show just how different the level was. Two huge bumpers surround Sonic and Knuckles. These could have been prototype 'corners' before the card symbols appeared.
