Submitted by: Rlan Tails faces Knuckles in this early design for the Flying Carpet level. Neither Knuckles or Tails have shadows in this picture. |

Submitted by: Rlan Tails and Knuckles continue to stare into each others eyes, giving fear to their opponents. You can see in the corner there is a very different style of arena than in the final. Tails also almost looks like he's got Sonic's arms in this picture, but that might just be lighting. |

Submitted by: Rlan Amy does a quick pose in her story level. This is the best picture to view the old corners of the arena. The candle is very different, particularly the base. Instead of a hovering sphere beneath, it has a flat bottom like a regular candle holder. The actual flame is also different, as the final has more of a gradient to it. |

Submitted by: Rlan A complete shot of the arena. As you can see, it's tied down to the ground by 4 columns being held together by a rock square. These, along with the Egyptian writing, were taken out of the final game. The characters still do not have shadows. |

Submitted by: Rlan Here you can see that the background was close to being finishes, as you can see the Sonic statue in the background. |

Submitted by: Rlan The carpet is similar to the one in the final, but the prototype one is missing the carpet 'ends' from the final version. |

Submitted by: Rlan Heres an image from the final version, where you can see there is a massive difference in the style of the arena. |
