In the final title screen, "spikes" move along sideways, in a similar designto the prototype title screen of Sonic Advance 2.

Shown in the prototype video, Sonic was originally able to boost from anywhere, so he would be able to boost while falling. The boost meter also fills itself automatically, but slowly. In the final version, you can only boost from the ground, and the boost meter goes up by collecting points and killing enemies.

The original images released of Sonic Rush had a different Heads-up display.
For this prototype, the ring counter in the corner shows a simple "30". In the final, the counter constantly has 3 numbers, so it would be "030"

The time counter in the corner is also in a different area. In the final, the timer is in the top middle of the screen, not the top right like it is shown here.

The boost meter is also a little different. The colours are all off. Here, the blues and yellows are very light. In the final game, they are much darker.

And on the flip side, the lives icon is too dark in the prototype! Almost completely black, like in the picture here. In the final game, the icon shows a lot more blue.

Mirage Road is quite different to what this image depicts. Firstly, there are no sand falls in the level, and the background is a little different to what you see in the final version.
