A little "preview" of Sonic X-Treme from May 1996's EGM. It's more an announcement than anything, speculating on what MIGHT be coming.

At
the height of The Secrets of Sonic the Hedgehog life, Rob Harris
was contacted by Andre Dirk. Not only was the huge selection
of sprites given up, but also scans of the 'Sonic's Red Shoe
Diaries' from Game Players Magazine. This was a Three part series,
this is part one, and it focuses on the early development stages
of the game.

The
third part of the Red Shoe Diaries was scanned by Doggone, because
one of the pages given by Rob Harris was corrupted, and these
are much better quality. This final part focuses on the things
they've added to revolutionize Sonic The Hedgehog.

This
scan from EGM was from an article about 'Games You'll never
play', games that were canned before release despite some promise.

From
the same issue comes this small article, it doesn't say anything
about the game other than being in the issue.

A
very early and horribly inaccurate article from GamePlayers
magazine. It tells a story of Sonic coming to the 32X [which
Sonic Xtreme was originally going to be on], but claims that
these images, from the 'Sonic The Ride' video, are from the
new 32X game.

A
small clippet from SEGA Saturn Magazine claims that Sonic X-Treme
will be coming to Megadrive and Saturn. They're obviously getting
confused with Xtreme and 3D Blast.

This
small snippet claims that Sonic X-Treme may come back from the
dead as another Sonic game is coming at E3. It's later to be
found as Sonic 3D Blast.
