In 1999, Andre Dirk of "Secrets of Sonic the Hedgehog" fame, received an e-mail from Rob Harris, the lead artist on the Sonic X-Treme. After some chat between e-mails, and with the help of Stealth, Harris than sent over the entire collection of his sprites which were to be used in the final product.

This page allows you to download the sprites of Sonic, and the enemies. I have also included pages dedicated to GIF versions of these animations, rather than the PCX files that are in the Zips.

PCX Zip Files

Originally the graphics were sent in two packages, a collection of PCX files with separate animations, and AMN files. At the time, the AMN files were unviewable

sonic1.zip - 541kb- A smaller set of Sonic animations, like the ones from the second set below, but in their original 320x240 PCX file sizes.

sonic2.zip - 2178kb - Includes the whole collection of Sonic animations, includes running, jumping, drowning and much more. These were all resized to be 62x64 sprites, which are the limits for every animation.

enemy.zip - 1363kb - Includes all the enemies from the game like Trunkbot, Balldron and Jetarang.

ANM Files

ANM files are Animation files used in Deluxe Paint, which was used to create them. They're not a whole lot of used to us now, but they're here for interest sake.

amn.zip - 6144kb - The entire collection of AMN files

amnview.zip- 22kb - Thanks to SilverFox, Were now able to see the AMN files! The program is uses DOS to view images.

GIF Files

I've taken up the task to animate the sprites together so they're easier to use online. I've set up 'sets', and each animation GIF includes all the angles for either the move or the enemy. Be warned, the pages could take a while to load.
