Sonic's emerald grabbing animation is still similar, but is different. The left is the BETA, the right is the final game. Sonic has a smirk on his face the entire time, while the final only has it during his 'grab' animation [not shown]. He's not frowning as much in the final, and his colours are a little duller.

These four animals take the place of the animals from the final game. Each one uses a similar colour palette of red and blue. Bats, Bees, and Butterflies do not appear in the final, Birds do, but in a different style similar to the Flickies and other Sonic 2 birds.
