Case 03: Sonic 3 Beta Snapshots

These came in a recent Email I got from Saxman

The palette loads 'Green' for Knuckles shoes. However, you can see why they took that out. The on-screen stats turn green as well. Also notice that the screen is pushed over to the right more. Ahh heck,
the on-screen stats aren't supposed to even be visible until Knuckles goes 'off-screen'.

The lap counter is blue instead of red. Also, pay close attention to the background and you will notice the the offsets in this picture and the final game are different.

Sonic is 'spinning' instead of 'falling'. Also, he falls at a short distance.

Case 04: Knuckles in the Original Sonic the Hedgehog

This picture of Knuckles in Sonic 1 (when attached to Sonic and Knuckles) remained a mystery until
Lindsay Stevens came forward with the truth.

"I would just like to inform everybody that the picture of Knuckles in STH1 is, indeed, fake. I
happen to live in Australia, and, I used to buy the magazine in question (Sega Megazone) every
month untill it shut down. A few months after they reviewed S&K and printed that picture, they
admitted to a readers' question that it was, indeed a hoax. Just look at it. There's no lives counter.
Sega Megazone got a bit of a reputation for tricking people like this, and, I believe that this is why
they were closed down."

Interestingly, in the last issue of Sega Megazone, they said they were closing down because of
French bombing in the Pacific Ocean, but I think the real reason they closed was their decline in
sales due to the diminishing support for Sega.

Case 04: Sonic Spinball Beta

Another picture from ^Luck^. This time it's from Sonic Spinball. According to him, the pinball table looks different to the same one in the final Sonic Spinball.

Case 05:  1 strange bug & a few tricks for Knuckles in Sonic 2.

in a mail from Dan Hopkins explains some strange tricks he pulled  off while playing with Knuckles in Sonic 2

"I discovered it by mistake honestly...I got a hold of Sonic 2 & Knux Rom
when my Sonic 2 game hit the fritz recently, and played the game using the
level select cheat at the title screen. I used this to play the Special
stages and collect all 7 emeralds. and then I played the game with the
ability to activate Super Knux when ever I got 50 or more rings.
This is where I discovered the strange bug that allows Knuckles to look
semi-Hyper. Its really just a tiny bug that means nothing but I thought I
would share it with someone."

"In the Mystic Cave Zone I got a hold of an Invincibility power up and then
Super Sneakers Then I collected 50 Rings and transformed. but something went odd. Knuckles
kept the Invincibility stars when he stood still and went 2x faster then
normally as Super Knux. But he missed the shadow effect you get in S3&K as
Hyper Knuckles."
"I figured out that the game is tricked into opening up the 'Hyper Knux'
sprite file and using the program there to make Knuckles ACT like Hyper
mode but still not have all the fancy trailing shadows because that is a
separate sprite that requires 14 of the collected stones ^^
That's just my theory as to why it occurred I enclosed some PCX files from
the game showing Super Knuckles acting like Hyper."

snap005.pcx shows Knuckles in Mystic Cave with a huge star behind him

snap007.pcx shows him in what looks like a fight with the boss. again with the strange stars
